Button - AmazonI’m not sure how I felt about this book. In the beginning, I was confused, so very confused. It’s one of the few times where I wished for an infodump just to fill me in. We have the Nightlands which is in perpetual darkness and Daylands which has perpetual day. Clementine is a flower girl, she sells flowers which glow and somehow she uses magic to enhance that glow. Oh and she is able to change into a dove. It took me over three chapters to figure this all out.

As the story continues, you find out about why there is a split between the two lands, except it wasn’t as clear as I would’ve liked. A lot of it was me threading pieces together, hoping I had the right answer. I’m still confused about the star in the sky and why it blinked for their meal breaks.

Knight is a wolf, kind of like a werewolf, kind of not. He could change into a wolf and was the alpha of the clan. Information about the clan trickled through and I got a slightly better understanding about them by the end of the book. I did enjoy the battle near the end, and one part had me holding my breath, waiting for the outcome.

Overall, I do want to read the next book. It didn’t end on a cliffhanger, although there was enough of a hook to entice me to continue. Perhaps next time I’ll be less confused! 😉
